we are very sentimental about our wild plum planted by the previous owner’s the Scrivener’s… residents in our home from the 40′s to 2002? It does produce lovely little plums.

First, the map~
This is really serious! I live for hummingbirds.! I love them as do all members of my family! We say goodbye to them with a heavy heart and wait anxiously for their return. The map is always consulted, and from yesterday or the day before, it has exploded with sightings. This means they are almost here! So, out comes the feeders and I had to double check my recipe!
Here is a lot of information for any who care to read it! To me it is so fascinating. How do these little creatures flow so far, and know how and when to stop. How do they return to the same area time after time? It is amazing to me.
Here is my last reference to the hummingbirds on their migration south. It is just really calming to me to have these bits of nature to rely on. It is grounding for me to know that I can count on certain things to be, no matter what else is going on. When I put my garden to rest in November and December it is with sadness, but also relief that we made it through another season. Of course I am always chomping at the bit to see winter go. This little map symbolizes a lot for us. Growth and renewal. Faith in something bigger than us. It is all good!
Get your feeder’s cleaned out and prepare some sugar syrup the hummies are coming!

I have been determined to learn how to do this crochet thing. I have wanted to learn for the longest time. Ok, so it took me a long time to “get it”, but I think I am good to go now.
I thought this little top was so cute, and I new just the girl for it~
I found this cute pattern here from Jessi’s Patterns so, I just went for it! It was fun. I used the same type of yarn as she did, Caron Brites, but I am not crazy about that yarn. Also, my crochet seems loose. So, definitely lots of room to improve there. I first tried this pattern with Rowan Cotton, and I love the color, however it seems heavy. I just need to finish the straps, then I can really compare.
In the mean time~ here is a close up of my little flower detail.

Hard to believe that this is what I see now from my back door, when this is what I saw from my front porch last night! My husband couldn’t help but take a few pic’s…
We had a little winter storm blow in… it is our first snowfall of the winter. I thought we had made it through, but old man winter had other plans for us! Thankfully this little snow won’t last long, and the kids LOVED it!

I can seriously not remember the last time we had snow in March, but it was fun while it lasted!
Much of the snow has already melted this Saturday afternoon, much to the disappointment of Livy~and all the rest of the gang.
I am really proud of my daughter. I think she has become a quite good photographer. She has been working really hard on improving her skill. I think she has done a fine job. Here are some of her latest photo’s.. (if the labels are dorky it is because I labeled them, not her!)

The Memphis Brooks Museum is a wonderful place to visit. Each museum in the city has a day with certain times allotted for free admission. This is a great little resource for homeschoolers and those with kids who seek educational opportunities to learn and have some fun at the same time.
