There is something so precious about a bishop dress. I LOVE them. My goal is to learn how to smock and pleat..insert shudder… Oh Lord. Maybe one day, but in the meantime I will make bishop dress’. I used The Scientific Scientist Bebop Bishop Pattern. I love the small print of this Densyse Schmidt Croquet fabric. My buttonholer gave me fits and I had to scrap the buttons. I made buttonholes The Old Fashioned Baby way. Oh me, nerve wracking. They are not perfect, but they will do I suppose. The sweater is The Vine Lace Cardi. I love, love, love this sweater. All we need are a pair of mary- janes and a pair of tights and a baby. ~ Swoon~
Oh dear, has it been almost a year? I don’t know what to say really. I can’t quite explain why I fell off the blog wagon.
Life is busy and full. There are not enough hours in the day to get it all done.
I am still doing the things that I love to do. I will always make and create even if I do not document it. It’s just in my blood and
I am very restless when I don’t have a project going. That brings me to my announcement….
Please come visit my new blog/shop!!
So, it’s kind of empty right now however, I am working really hard to create some beautiful classic pieces with some great fabric choices. It’s going to be great. You can see some earlier items I made in my flickr. I may add some other things along the way, bags, quilts, knitted items… we’ll see.
My kids are older and I can’t sew for them like I want, so I figure this is the next best thing. I LOVE sewing for kids and I have a ton of ideas and items I want to make. We’ll see how it all flows.
I hope you will visit and if you have ideas I am all ears.
~knitting for little ones~
It’s been so long since my last yarn along! So happy to have a little more time to knit and for a baby no less, my favorite kind of projects!!
The Pebble pattern this pattern is quick and easy. I love the design of this pattern. Knit all in one, from the bottom up and finishing off at the shoulders. It was interesting. I have never knit a pattern constructed this way and that made this pattern ever more fun.
*so hard to take good photos in January!
~I love winter. I love winter especially on the weekends when I don’t have to go out. I love staying in my flannel pj’s and lazing about.
~Eating yummy salads.
Yummy winter salad. xoxo it.
~Starting a new quilt, using my stash. Make do and use it up~
~Sewing for a new little boy named Finn.
~Knitting for same little one.
( can’t show you because I’m blocking and need to add buttons)
I hope it fits!
I love winter!
Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. ~Hal Borland
Clearly I hope for the same things each year. Health and happiness for myself and my family. I always yearn for more time to do the things I need to do and to do the things I want to do. I want to achieve balance in my work and free time. I want to prioritize my obligations and still have time to be creative. I want to be a good wife and a good mom.
I want to nurture my spirituality, my health, and my creativity and that of my family.
Wishing you the best 2013 and that it will be all that you need it to be.
I can’t even tell you how happy I am with this quilt. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Cozy and warm. Crinkly and cozy. The colors make me happy. I love using linen in quilts but it is not always easy but no matter, I still turn to it for the texture it brings to the quilt.
I can not take any credit for the color or quilting choices in this design of Anna Maria Horner’s Spinning Stars, I shamelessly copied hers. Look halfway down the page. When I first saw this it was love at first sight. Shamelessly I set out to make my own version because it makes me happy. I hope you don’t mind.. hee hee.
I haven’t done any hand quilting since I made the Heather Ross quilt, I forgot how fun it is. I am already planning my next quilt that I will also do hand quilting on. I think this is my new love. It really adds a personal dimension to the quilt.
~Flannel backing, so soft~
~scrappy binding = love!
I love the time when I can just sit and knit. Early in the morning or often late at night. All is quiet and the house is calm. There is time to sit and be still while keeping my hands busy. It takes me a long time to finish my knitting projects, but I do eventually finish. I always have a project tucked away in my knitting bag. I have a long list of projects “to do” and I am satisfied with my plans. If I could do everything I want to do right now, then what would I have to look forward to? I do not want to have everything done ”right now.” Anticipation and planning. Hoping and waiting. Dreaming. It’s a good thing, this exercise in patience, right?
Hey do you hear about this? Katie from I’m a Ginger Monkey will be hosting this Spinning Stars Quilt Along. Here is the flickr group. I love, love, love this pattern from one of my very favorite fabric designer’s Anna Maria Horner. Big SQUEAL! Love.
It’s so funny because the bug bite me awhile ago to make this quilt. I love the look of hand quilting on this quilt . I plan to do hand-quilting on my baby quilt as well. Here is a really good tutorial on hand quilting.
So fun, and for once a quilt along I can really get with. Yes!
~The new puppy needed a soft place to lay while inside her crate. With so many dogs it is easy for her to become overwhelmed. Also she is in the chewing puppy stage. She likes to grab whatever she can and destroy. So, a crate/kennel was needed. I couldn’t just let her lay on the hard plastic, so I dug out a piece of leftover patchwork and added a few pieces, put batting in and finished it with some Perle cotton quilt ties.
~It was soft and cozy~
~A running stitch kept it all nice and contained~
Too bad Annabelle tore it all up, naughty puppy.
Now she has an old cutter quilt in the bottom of her crate.
My husband brought home a flea infested puppy about 3 weeks ago. He said she was playing in the street and people were honking their horns at her. She was oblivious of course. He first saw her on his way to the park while walking our other dogs, on his way back, there she was causing trouble. Somehow he managed to convince her to come to him, he leashed her and brought her home.
Yes, wasn’t that just lovely of him?
