~ A soft bed for Annabelle~

~The new puppy needed a soft place to lay while inside her crate. With so many dogs it is easy for her to become overwhelmed. Also she is in the chewing puppy stage. She likes to grab whatever she can and destroy. So, a crate/kennel was needed. I couldn’t just let her lay on the hard plastic, so I dug out a piece of leftover patchwork and added a few pieces, put batting in and finished it with some Perle cotton quilt ties.

~It was soft and cozy~

~A running stitch kept it all nice and contained~

Too bad Annabelle tore it all up, naughty puppy.

Now she has an old cutter quilt in the bottom of her crate.

~Reflection on thankfulness day 2~

No longer forward nor behind
I look in hope or fear;
But, grateful, take the good I find,
The best of now and here. ~John Greenleaf Whittier

Today I am thankful for my hands and for my feet. They allow me to be who I need to be~

My hands that prepare the food for our meals.. my hands that do my nurse work.. my hands that touch my children, my husband, my little animals, and my hands I use to create…

My feet that carry me where I need to go~ to school, to work, to my family and friend’s home. They carry me on long walks with my dogs..

This year I’ve learned I must focus on what is here, what is mine today.  I can not spend my time always looking back.  If I do then I will not be present for my today, and I can not always spend my time looking  ahead because tomorrow I may not be here..

To find your happiness and your peace you must be in the moment of right now.  To remember to be thankful for all that you have today, and all that you have had before today, and all that you will have tomorrow.

~Peace

~ Autumnal ramblings and a GIVEAWAY!! ~

I pulled out my fall runner yesterday that I made last year~

partly because it is getting cold and well, because it is October and there is  no time like the present…

When I noticed a little theme going round….

You can tell by the activity around here the temperatures are beginning to drop, all animals have claimed their spot~

Any of our three dogs may be found on a couch  either cuddled up or  just curled in a warm ball …

The kitties are no exception … they have been spent all of their time sleeping and bathing each other on my fall runner.  Of course as soon as I just pulled it out they think it is just for them, well of course they do.. they’re cats!

We brought in some of the roses ~  surely they will not be around much longer..

Emma gathered a lonely walnut, maple leaf and set out some of her great grandmother’s sea shells to decorate the flowers.

I love these antique tea roses, pictured are Mrs. BR Cant, and Mrs. Dudley Cross along with a few blooms from our Vitex/Chaste tree. Lovely!!

Speaking of our garden,  wait until you see the giveaway information below it is awesome!!

First a little recordkeeping~   I saw my last hummingbird on Monday, the 12th.. This is important  as I like to keep a record my little friends coming and going’s.  I am always so sad to see them go.  It will be a long few months until they are back.. see you in March little friends..  Godspeed.

   ~sorry so blurry!

Speaking of  knitting, did you see this giveaway by GardenMama? She is featuring handmade items by Down in the Meadow  Wow, I am in awe~ what fantastic work! You have to go and check it out. The giveaway ends tonight so hurry! Of course I am late to the game..

So cute!!!

I need to be sewing but all I want to do is sit and knit.. that’s it.

It might be a problem, but for now~ not so much!

Prayer’s for Missy….

Prayer’s for my sister’s dog are needed.  She is the pretty dog on the right.. She has been very ill.  She is a sweet and loving dog.

We pray for her body to heal and to recover from the pain and the strength to fight off the infection… We pray for her to be able to return home where she will be loved and cared for by the ones who love her most.

We pray for you Missy and we love you…

Interruption of Spring~

Hard to believe that this is what I see now from my back door, when this is what I saw from my front porch last night! My husband couldn’t help but take a few pic’s…

We had a little winter storm blow in… it is our first snowfall of the winter. I thought we had made it through, but old man winter had other plans for us! Thankfully this little snow won’t last long, and the kids LOVED it!  ~These shots are from our front porch last night. My husband was just as excited as the kids.

Exploring the garden is so much fun when it is covered by snow!

Hard to believe it was so pretty the day before this blew in!

I can seriously not remember the last time we had snow in March, but it was fun while it lasted!

Much of the snow has already melted this Saturday afternoon, much to the disappointment of Livy~and all the rest of the gang.
