Sorry it has been a while since I last posted. I have worked 3 of the last 4 days and I am just tired!
However, have no doubt, we are outside everyday. The littlest spends hours outdoors after school each day. She sets up her area to play. The area is usually the same spot, but the theme is always changing. This week she has “created” a science lab. She has set up two different containers with water to observe the evaporation process. The water jug was started over the weekend and the mason jar placed outside today. The first thing she does when she gets home is to go check her water bottle for signs of condensation and evaporation. The other side is marked with a sharpie to keep track of the water level.
She has her mat to sit on, and has placed various bits, a feather, dog bones, bag of leaves, green clippings, a bucket of bricks, and a small pile dirt/mulch to her “lab”. She brings her notebook out to record and make notes, all done while wearing her princess dress. Of course.
I am amused and proud of her imagination. It simply wears me out sometimes, but honestly she never ceases to amaze me. I have to remind myself that while this area looks “messy” and all of that, it is her creation and her area. It is her place to explore, create and be whatever she wants to be. Imaginative play is such an important process of growing up. All kids need time to play.
