~Lazy Days~

DSC_0077

~I love winter. I love winter especially on the weekends when I don’t have to go out. I love staying in my flannel pj’s and lazing about.

~Eating yummy salads.

I hope it fits!

I love winter!

~ You gotta have Faith~

Meet my new little friend Faith.

I love her.  Her picture is blurry, but I still think she is beautiful.

So hard to get a good picture.

She loves to be outside, barefoot with the wind blowing her long hair. Her mom made her put it up in ponytails.

She loves the Autumn light.

She loves to smell the flowers.

Details:

Waldorf Inspired Doll pattern from:: Growing up Sew Liberated. So cute!

Hair from::  my FAVORITE yarn lady, Camilla.

Mixed with a blonde mix from Dancing Rain Dolls, which unfortunately is no longer in business 😦

Peasant dress, my own pattern.

Leggings, I modified with 2 layers of ruffles from this pattern.

Sweater is::  Little Kina   I modified the pattern a bit by knitting a long sleeve version.

I named my Waldorf Inspired doll Faith because I made her at the same time we were facing personal challenges at home.  Through prayer and faith, today things are much improved. I have George Michael singing in my head, but it’s true, You Gotta Have Faith, Faith, Faith.

I really loved making this doll, she is my 2nd Waldorf Inspired doll. The first was from a kit from Dancing Rain dolls, the kit came with a pre-formed head. This time I bought my supplies from Weir Dolls. The head was a challenge but I think it came out just fine.  I foresee making more little friends, oh yes I do.

~What I am loving right now~

~I have had making shopping bags on my list FOREVER and a day. I love
this so much, I know I am going to do this for sure. I like the idea to of using the bags for gift wrap.

~ How cute is this??    Here is a cute little flower to go with the headband  Oh me. Seriously cute!

*so hard to get a good picture, trust me it is cuter in person then this. Plus I am having a bad hair day!!*

~ Then there is this.. how cute!   I think my feet need  a pair of these! My gir

ls do too!

I am a little overwhelmed with the holidays being so close.. working.. eek. Just not a lot of time, but I think little projects are much more doable.

I always say I am starting in July, but I promise it just never happens. Every year it is the same thing. Sometimes I think I just do better when I am under pressure, yes, it is my own pressure, but you know what I mean… don’t you??

What are you into this year, are you working on anything special? Fast??? Would love some links!!  Especially for teacher’s!

~My rocking chair needed some love~

~My mom is planing a huge move soon to her lake house.. she has tons of “extra” furniture that she needs to find a home for.  She had a rocker and I needed a rocker.  It was comfortable.. but .. I wasn’t loving the cushion.

So,  I made a new cushion. I thought it was pretty cute.  I used the quilt as you go technique from Patchwork StylePenny did a sew as you go quilt a long using the same technique. I think whoever thought up this idea is really clever.  I am thinking of doing a quilt for my bed using this technique, but I am not completely sold.  Anyway, it is great for cushions and pillows! Which is what I made next, because the crochet pillow was not working for me either.

~see, not really cute!

~here is the pillow. Much better!

Here is my “after” I think it is better. I love, love, love this rocker. I love to rock. I sit in this chair and watch my shows and I crochet.  The little pillow above? It was my test swatch for Lucy’s Granny Stripe Blanket.  When I saw her blanket, I knew I wanted to make one.  It is not a fast project, but it is a really good one for sitting and rocking, and watching the Housewives!!

~Trying to decide~

I have been away for a while. I am trying to decide if I should take a blog break, end my blog.. or just keep on blogging here and there. I just can’t decide.

In the meantime.. I have started sewing.  Just a few quick and easy dresses. I made two yesterday and I have fabric for about three more.  Give or take.  My daughter loves them and that always makes me happy.

New Look 6195  is so, so fast and easy. I used my serger (finally!!) and it is extremely quick and easy. I made view a, minus the ric rac.

~Sewing for little ones~

Unfortunately I am sick, but I won’t let it stop me.  I am still sewing..

This is the cutest little pattern.

My version:

~Cute! But, I think it’s too big and not really proper for Feb. weather… is it?
Too white I think.

Love the little hem design.. can you see it?
I love gingham!!

Here is another that I tried.. it came out more like a top because I used home dec weight fabric and it just would not shirr. I ended up shirring with elastic, and it works .. kind of.

Next up is this pattern— for a girl of course…

I love pink and orange! hopefully it will fit. Sewing for little ones that are not yours, is tricky… you forgot how tiny/big they are.  It’s been almost 7 years since my littlest was a baby. How quickly time goes by..

Now, back to my chicken soup…

~did a little sewing~

So, if you remember in my last post~

I wanted to try to make an outfit like my little niece Caroline had on.  My sister said I could totally do it..

So, I did some sewing yesterday while my littlest was ill..

I think I am in LOVE!

~try not to notice my plaid does not  match up~

~and all of the little strings I missed~

~so hard to get a good photo…

The winter light is killing me… I am ready for Spring!!

~Reflection on thankfulness day 3~

~I am so thankful my workday went by quickly and smoothly! One more day and then I will be off for a while!

and I will be so grateful for the quiet time to finish so many project’s I have hanging over my head!

~this is the beginnings of quilt I am making for my cousin’s best friend’s baby! ~or something like that!   I struggled for a moment to get my mojo going but finally thank the Lord, it hit me and I’ve been working feverishly to get it done.  Should not be too much longer.. and then there is this…

~my scraps to treasure quilt front that must be finished ASAP.. I am so late! Please excuse the wrinkles I should not even tell you how that happened..

~it partly involves this cat cuddling up on it, then being ambushed by his brother, and then a whole big rigmarole ensues.. goodness!

All in all I am so thankful I have a mind that won’t rest and hands that must be kept busy.  It just makes me feel more complete..

~You can be a Flea Market Fancy Freak !!~

fleamarketfancywidget

We all love the Flea Market Fancy fabric line, but so sadly it is out of print and very hard to find.

My friend Penny from Sewtakeahike has started a wonderful campaign to bring it back!!

You can go here and join in the cause to bring this great line back! Maybe just maybe we can do it!

Finger’s crossed and I promise to buy a lot if it does! You know what they say ~ a promise is a promise !!~

~Iraqi Bundle of Love~

~my Iraqi Bundle of Love (IBOL) is now airborne!

Follow the progress here
and on if you are on facebook  then follow here.  This is a great cause, check it out and pass it on!!

Also, I could not find an APO box- one clerk told me they don’t make those anymore.  I did not believe that, but when I went to another branch this morning to check one more time,  the clerk told me when they put in the zip code  it automatically knows it is an APO address which makes perfect sense now but not being able to find the correct box was stressing me out.   Anyway when I shipped the package what she said was correct and of course it all worked out just fine!

~package inspected and approved by Sam~
